Durability of a perfume
Opened perfumes typically last for around 24 to 48 months without any loss of durability or intensity, provided they are stored properly! Fragrances don't generally expire like milk, for example: they change the scent, color, consistency, and shelf life. This doesn't sound too dramatic at first. But after this "exploitation," the perfume is no longer suitable for its intended purpose.
Better a spray bottle than a shaker bottle
To achieve optimal perfume longevity, you should always choose a perfume with a spray bottle rather than a shaker bottle. Constant contact with the skin can significantly reduce the longevity. You should also pay attention to the alcohol content of your perfume; the higher the alcohol content, the longer the scent will last on your skin.
How to best store your perfume
Proper storage is key for optimal shelf life. It's best to keep your fragrances in your bedroom. There, temperatures are usually consistent and it's not too bright. If you want to be on the safe side, you can also store your fragrances in a dark drawer, a box, or the perfume's outer packaging. Also, always make sure the perfume is tightly closed with the cap. This could allow too much air to enter the bottle, causing the fragrance to gradually evaporate.
